My toddler is loves fruit snacks, like most toddlers. I don’t usually buy them because they have lots of added sugar. These fruit snacks are so easy to make and they are a great way to get some veggies in. You could even show your toddler the carrots as you put them in and they will see carrots really are yummy!
What You Will Need
- Strawberries- you can use fresh or frozen
- Carrots
- Honey- make sure to only serve for 1+
- Gelatin- I use unflavored

Equipment
Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped strawberries, or blueberries, or mango
- 1/4 cup chopped carrots, or spinach
- 2 tbsp honey, (taste and add more as needed)
- 1/4 cup water, (can use apple juice instead for a sweeter taste)
- 3 tbsp unflavored gelatin
Instructions
Add strawberries, carrot, honey, and water to a blender. Blend for about 5 minutes until super smooth.
Add fruit mixture to a pot on the stove. Add the gelatin and mix.
Cook over medium heat. Do not let it boil. Whisk constantly until the mixture is no longer grainy. This takes about 3 minutes.
Using a dropper, drop mixture into molds. Make sure to pop any bubbles that come up. Put in the fridge for 1-2 hours.
Pop the fruit snacks out of the molds and serve. Store in a bag in the fridge for up to a week!
If you don't have a mold, you could also spread onto a pan and then cut out shapes yourself after refrigerating.

Can these be frozen? Do they thaw well?
Reply
I have never frozen them, I’m not sure what would happen to the texture. Let me know if you try!

I froze them for a few days and they defrosted just fine! The texture seemed unchanged to me, however I subbed the apple juice for water and doubled the honey.Reply
Awesome! I’m so glad it worked out!

Is the texture safe for toddlers @18mo?

The texture is a lot more soft than normal fruit snacks. I can pretty easily smash them between my fingers!

Did your gummies stick to the mold? Or is that a sign I should let them sit longer in the fridge?

Mine don’t stick, they come right out!

Hello, I sometimes have different fruit than strawberries, like blueberries, watermelon, or mango. Can I use the same measurements or due to the water content would it change the measurements?

You can use whichever fruit you want!

Would this work with a flavored jello powder? Looking for a healthier alternative to gummy candies for my sweet tooth, and I happen to have sugar free strawberry jello. Thank you!
